Triple M talks most in Melbourne commercial FM content comparison

Last week we compared Sydney’s KiiS, NOVA and 2Day’s breakfast programs for advertising, song and entertainment content.

This time, with the help of our marquee sponsor, AirCheck™ we’ve analysed five Melbourne FM music stations, Triple M, FOX, GOLD, MIX and NOVA.

Once again, we’ve taken a snapshot of last Friday’s breakfast shows between 7 and 9 am.
And once again, Nova was the music champ with six songs in each hour between 7 – 8 and 7 -9. Mix played five per hour.

Next came FOX and GOLD in a tie for third place with with four songs in each hour. Finally, Triple M proved to be this week’s music miser with just three songs in hour one and only two in hour two.

On the other hand, time taken up by ads and promos were very similar with all stations running around 24 – 25 minutes of ads and promos.

With the skinniest playlist it was Triple M’s Hot Breakfast that devoted most time to talk from hosts Eddie McGuire, Mick Molloy and Luke Darcy with their focus on sport on top of the usual news, weather and traffic.

Unsurprisingly then, Nova 100 with its six songs per hour had the least time for chit chat from new hosts Meshel and Tommy

Look out soon for our comparison of Brisbane stations.
