Two ACE radio stations celebrate coming of age

ACE Radio have celebrated the 18th birthdays of both its Coast FM Warrnambool and Mixx FM Hamilton stations. That’s right, they’re both now old enough to drink, vote and drive a car.

Rookie & Dani (Lachie Rooke and Danielle Keilar) kicked things off on Coast FM, whilst Lippi (Matt Lipiarski) celebrated on Mixx FM; reminiscing about each station’s launch in 2002 and dedicating the “Old School Lunch” to that special year.

Rookie and Dani even tracked down the original breakfast team Cathy & Monkey and played them their opening break on Coast FM from back in 2002.

While Lippi spoke with Mixx FM’s 2002 Content Director, Dave Drinkell, about what he remembered of the station’s birth and if he could still recall the first song that went to air.

Both stations remain leaders in their respective markets, and both still identify under their original call signs, a rarity in Australian FM radio these days.

The ACE Radio network is proud to celebrate the longevity of these brands and their role in continuing to bring entertaining, informative and important local voices to Victoria’s south west. We extend our thanks to all who have been involved along the journey so far.
