Ugly Phil O’Neil has resigned from 96fm Perth, and was not on air this morning.  Fans on the show’s facebook page began talking about Phil’s absence this morning and during the day the station issued a statement confirming his resignation.

The statement said: “In the meantime it’s business as usual for 96fm with regular hosts Fitzi and Carmen. Our search for a new anchor to team up with Fitzi and Carmen will commence immediately. We wish Phil well in his future endeavours.”

Ugly Phil has told radioinfo “it didn’t work out,” and that he will now be heading back to Sydney.

At the beginning of the year, 96fm had an 8.8% share in breakfast, and in survey 4 the breakfast show had dropped to a 6.6% share.
