Unearthed High is Back

Now in its 7th year, Unearthed High is back and searching for Australia’s best high school music act. If you’re in a band, a songwriter, producer or MC, triple j wants to hear from you.

HOW TO ENTER
To enter, upload an original track to triplejunearthed.com and tell us which high school you attend. To be eligible at least half of the band members need to be in high school. Entries close at midnight on Mon 21 July so there’s plenty of time to get started. If you’ve ever shredded on your axe, made beats in your bedroom or imagined yourself on stage – now’s your chance to show us what you’ve got!

TOOLS
Need some help getting started? There are heaps of tips and ideas on song writing, rehearsing, recording, playing gigs, and promoting yourself. Plus advice from The DoctorSeth Sentry, last year’s winners Lunatics on Pogosticks and stacks of other artists going up over the next few weeks.

PRIZE
The winning act will be flown to triple j’s studio to have their song professionally recorded by triple j’s Music Producers. The song will then be played on triple j and triple j Unearthed. Plus we’ll put on a concert at their high school, where the winning band will play alongside hip hop guru Seth Sentry, in front of all their school mates!

triple j Unearthed is all about discovering, sharing and providing opportunities to young Australian artists. Past winners AstaSnakadaktalStonefieldand Hunting Grounds have gone on to enjoy incredible success since winning Unearthed High. Last year’s winners Lunatics on Pogosticks, from Sydney’s Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, have played Falls Music and Arts Festival, released a brand new single, signed with a booking agent, toured with British India, The Jungle Giants and Grinspoon, and graduated high school all within a year of winning Unearthed High.

triple j Unearthed High finalists will be announced on Tues 5 August, with the 2014 Unearthed High winner revealed on Fri 15 August.
