Bill Rule, who worked as an announcer at Victorian stations including 3KZ, 3AK, 3GL and the ABC died on the weekend at the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital. He had courageously fought illness over the past two years.
Apart from his work in Melbourne, one of his finest career achievements was at 6PR Perth in the mid 1960s.
When I was growing up in Perth, 6PR was the hot music station at the time in the 60's. There was a fantastic line up of really successful Jocks that so influenced me that I ended up becoming a jock myself. Bill Rule was one of those 'good guys'and like many others of our time should never just slip away without being recognised as the true performers they were, who made being 'on-air' a professional art form. I'm saddened to hear of his passing. Does anyone have any aircheck's of Bill, particularly from that era we can share?
