Vale Bob Perry

One of Adelaide’s best known radio and TV newsmen, Bob Perry has passed away.

Bob started in the mid 1960s hosting 5AD’s Saturday Night show. He was also the station’s weekend surf and shark patrol reporter and went on to do Breakfast news.

After a stint as a reporter and newsreader with ADS 7 he joined Nine where he eventually became News Editor and Chief of Staff.

He was also well known as Ken Sparkes’ Man On The Street’ when Ken hosted Breakfast on 5KA.

Any Adelaide news people will tell you that Bob was ALWAYS ready to go, first on the scene at many fires and crime scenes. He even left a couple of barbeques when his pager would go off (that’s his motorola pager unit in his pocket)

Bob worked for Seven, Nine and Ten and later set up his own business – Newsmakers Media Services.

In 2000, Bob Perry was appointed Broadcast Venue Manager for the shooting venue at the Sydney Olympics, working for the Sydney Olympic Broadcast Organisation.
