Vale Clive James

He was born Vivian Leopold James in Kogarah, NSW on 7th October 1939 and once famously described Arnold Schwarzenegger as looking like “a brown condom full of walnuts”.
 
Clive James, Australian broadcaster and author, has passed away aged 80.
 
He had been diagnosed with leukaemia in 2010 and had written about his terminal illness during his final years, putting down his pen just a month ago.
 
Critic, poet, novelist and TV personality, Clive James was best known for his wit and sense of humour.
 
Fellow journalist and Guardian columnist, Mark Lawson, once described Clive’s film reviews as “so funny it was dangerous to read while holding a hot drink”.
 
 A statement from his agents said he died at home in Cambridge on Sunday and a private funeral was held on Wednesday in the chapel at Pembroke College.
