Vic Labor pledges $800,000 to Joy

Joy 94.9 has welcomed news of an $800,000 Labor pledge for funding over the next four years.

Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews, pledged $200,000 annually if Labor is re-elected this Saturday, citing the work that JOY 94.9 does to connect and support the LGBTI+ communities of Victoria and the relevance this has for all Victorians.

JOY 94.9 President Melinda Rich welcomed the news and says, “We are still reflecting on the recent Federal Labor pledge of $600,000 to support our relocation to the Victorian Pride Centre, and the $500,000 relocation pledge from the Victorian Liberals.

“This Victorian Labor commitment goes a step further and would give JOY 94.9 secure funding for the medium term.

“The most pleasing thing overall is seeing that sustainability of LGBTI+ organisations is a priority for multiple political parties across Australian politics. We’re very proud that they choose JOY 94.9 as a platform to engage on issues that matter to the LGBTI+ communities.”
