We want these benches to stamp out bullying: Gold FM Initiative

Gold FM’s first Buddy Bench was unveiled this week on the Gold Coast.

The station’s Richard, Bridge and Spida are on a mission to stamp out school bullying with the installation of Buddy Benches at Gold and Tweed Coast schools (see our earlier report).

The first bench is located at Norfolk Village State School.

92.5 Gold FM breakfast host Bridget Daley told radioinfo: “We want to implement as many Gold FM Buddy Benches across the Tweed and Gold Coasts as we can. We want these benches to stamp out bullying and also highlight the empathy of the beautiful kids that actually have big hearts and don’t want to see a child sitting on their own.”

School Principal Chris Capra said the Buddy Bench is “another great idea to add to the bullying strategies we already have and what is great is that a child originally came up with the idea; the best ideas often come from the kids.”

The station will continue to roll out Buddy Benches at other Gold Coast schools this year.
