The Australian’s ‘Strewth’ column suggests a junior Howard Minister needs to get in touch with the world outside Parliament House: "There is no doubt that Veterans Affairs Minister Danna Vale keeps up to date with what’s going on in the world outside Parliament House. Yesterday afternoon she fired off a facsimile message – on parliamentary letterhead, complete with photograph – to besieged broadcaster Alan Jones. "Thinking of you Alan, and write to assure you of our warm support; and to add our names to the long list of all your friends. Stay brave and true." Unfortunately, she addressed it to "Alan Jones 2UE Morning Program" – and she sent it to 2UE, where it landed on the desk of morning show host John Laws. Jones has been doing the breakfast show on rival station 2GB for years.
