LA bootscootin’ back on FM

After a six month hiatus, country music will return to the Los Angeles airwaves tonight Australian time, when classical station 105.1 K-Mozart flips to Go Country 105.

Country music fans in America’s second biggest city were outraged and protested when KZLA changed format back in August, citing flagging ratings for the move.

Chief Operating Officer of the Nashville-based Country Music Association Tammy Genovese says: “Any time a country radio station opens, it’s a good thing for our industry. When a country radio station opens in a major market like Los Angeles, it’s a wonderful thing for our industry.”

New York and San Francisco have also seen country formatted stations disappear from the airwaves in recent years.

The limited appeal K-Mozart channel will continue to broadcast, however listeners will have to purchase an HD digital radio to receive the channel.
