Bryce Ives


Bryce Ives is the General Manager of The Student Youth Network - SYN 90.7 MELBOURNE. The Student Youth Network Inc. (SYN) aims to provide young people with opportunities, access and training within the media. It is a leading example of youth participation in the media and has made a major impact nationally as an innovative trainer and broadcaster. SYN currently manages and operates a full-time Melbourne-wide community radio station (90.7 SYN-FM), produces 7.5 hours a week of live television (broadcast on Channel 31 Melbourne), publishes a quarterly magazine (Pecado) and maintains a full-time internet presence (www.syn.org.au). Bryce has been involved in the community broadcasting sector for eight years, starting with community radio station 3bbb FM in Ballarat, Victoria. He also brings experience from working at a variety of media and arts organization in television, radio, theatre and education. Bryce was previously employed as the Executive Producer of C31 Melbourne’s live television programming ‘Pluck’ ‘Syn TV’ and ‘SYN City.’ He believes that he is very fortunate to have been part of a dynamic team which has helped create and sustain a number of large youth television programs on Australian community television. This includes the Tony Staley Award Winning program ‘Dawns Crack.’ Bryce recently returned to hosting television on programs ‘Buskerama’ and ‘The Roaming Couch’ both for C31 and Foxtel Digital. Bryce is a familiar face within the Ballarat community, as a lively host, performer and director of local events. He also spent over ten years of his life performing in local Ballarat theatre. Bryce’s innovation included writing and directing his own plays, and helping to encourage more local playwrights in Ballarat through his involvement with Theatre Movement Inc.
