Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has appointed Lyn Barp to Head of Local Sales – Sydney. Lyn will be responsible for managing revenue across metro radio, regional radio and digital assets.

ARN today announced the appointment of Andrew Sidwell to the newly created role of Head of Custom Solutions. He will head the National Integration and Campaign Solutions team and work closely with the commercial teams across ARN's radio and digital assets.

The Turnbull Government has appointed Ms Nerida O'Loughlin as a full-time member and Chair of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) for a five-year term. Ms O'Loughlin brings to the role extensive policy and regulatory experience within the communications and media sector, most recently as Interim CEO of the Digital Transformation Agency.

Jay Mueller will leave his production role on Triple M’s Hot Breakfast at the end of the year after 8 years with SCA, to concentrate on his Bad Producer Productions business. Before working at Triple M, Jay produced 3AW’s Breakfast with Ross and John and also worked on 3AW’s Mornings with Neil Mitchell.

Adrian 'AJ' Johnston has joined Bridge Daley and Spider Everitt at Gold 92.5 FM as co-host of Breakfast for the Gold Coast station. AJ has made the shift from Gold's morning show to the earlier slot.

Dave Thornton let management know a month ago and his co-hosts Fifi Box, Brendan Fevola and Byron Cooke just last week that he was quitting the Melbourne team that he’d been a part of for the past four years. He'll be leaving at the end of the month.

Former Triple M drive host and podcaster, Rachel Corbett,  has joined Mamamia as director of podcasts. Corbett will continue to maintain her own podcast business, PodSchoolMamamia’s team of podcast producers and presenters work across 19 show titles with 23 female hosts.

ABC Melbourne breakfast broadcaster Red Symons will return to the airwaves next week after suffering a significant brain injury in a fall two months ago. The 68-year-old ABC Radio Melbourne presenter fell and hit his head on the pavement and suffered a severe brain injury as a result. He always maintained he would return to work once he recovered.

Mark Spurway will be leaving the ABC this Friday after 14 years as Head of Transmission.  During his time at the ABC - the national broadcaster - he has overseen the transition from analog TV to the digital television transmission platform,  implemented 71 new regional NewsRadio network FM services and introduced DAB in the 5 metro markets with another 3 markets planned for the next 6 months in Canberra, Darwin and Hobart. Mark told radioinfo that it has been a privilege to work at the ABC with such great people. He is leaving to start his own venture.

Carolyn Gates is moving on after 7 years at FBi

After more than seven years in the role, Caroline Gates is moving on from her position as FBi Radio's Program Director. FBi says Caroline has played a pivotal role in defining the sound of the station and in developing FBi into a cross platform offering.

Rachel Storer, winner of the inaugural Commercial Radio Australia Brian White Scholarship has scored a full-time job with the Hit Network. After completing the eight-week paid scholarship work attachment in Sydney, consisting of two weeks each at Macquarie Media, Southern Cross Austereo, Australian Radio Network and Nova Entertainment, Storer was offered a job with SCA at Hit 106.9 Newcastle.

Kazmir Simpson has landed a new job as producer of Stav, Abby & Matt with Osher Breakfast Show on Brisbane HIT105.  Kaz is a graduate of Swinburne University in Melbourne with a Graduate Diploma of Arts in Commercial Radio, and has over four years' experience in radio.

For The Australian Radio School in Adelaide, it’s been a massive couple of months for six of its students scoring their first full time gigs in radio starting with Nicole Mitchell who is now the afternoon announcer and Music Director at hit100.9 in Hobart. (Nicole was from the same 2014 class as Ben and Liam who are hosting triple j breakfast.

Australian Radio School student Karyn Bloxham has made a made a massive career change. 18 months ago she was a high flying lawyer in Adelaide. Now she’s in Sydney, Show Producing for ABC breakfast and Drive as well as producing for ABC News 24.

Damon Adams is another Australian Radio School student who made a brave move to leave teaching to break into radio. It paid off big time. Incredibly his first full time commercial radio job is in Murray Bridge co-hosting the Power FM breakfast show with Kristel Dally. (Also from Australian Radio School.)
