Phill “Redback” Hearn is back with Charleville’s 4VL and voicing the new Hot Country network for Brad Smart. Redback has finally completed his new modern home-based studio and is now preparing a new Rural social program soon to be aired across Queensland.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority has appointed Marcus Bezzi as Head of its newly established Legal Division. Bezzi will join ACMA from the Sydney office of the Australian Government Solicitor.

Sydney’s FBi 94.5FM has expanded its Sales & Promotions Department and has appointed Emma Keenan as its second Sales & Promotion Manager. Emma comes from a long career in the commercial radio, television and advertising industries, with roles at Macquarie Radio Network (2GB & 2CH), Universal Television and the TWBA agency.

Emma joins existing Sales & Promotion Manager Emily Copeland who was appointed in July.

In other staff movement, FBi is pleased to welcome Dan Zilber back into a full-time role as Music Co-ordinator. Luke Purse has also recently come on board, replacing Tim Traeger as FBi’s Technical Co- ordinator.

James Musgrave, formerly of NXFM, POWERFM and SEAFM amongst several other radio stations between Rockhampton and Albury, has recently redesigned the website for WAVE FM Wollongong. Now operating Net Perceptions internet marketing and website design full-time, this is the twelfth radio station website that James has built in the last five years.

PD of Brisbane's Easy Listening 4BH Steve Hart has left the station after about six months. 4BH General Manager David McDonald told radioinfo Hart had made his own decision to move on.

Peter Hetherington has joined National Radio News as manager. For the past two years Peter has worked as a freelance media agent/television producer. Prior to that Peter had 9 years as an account manager in regional television. Rod Bloomfield has commenced with NRN in a senior journalist role. Rod has almost 20 years experience in all aspects of radio. NRN also welcomes Jennifer Browning into a cadet journo position.

Adam Hemmings has resigned as News Director of the southern group for Macquarie Regional Radioworks. He leaves this Friday to join the 2UE newsroom. Former 2UE Journalist Monqiue Taylor is Adam's replacement.

Program Director at 4ttt Townsville,Stephan Kent has announced that he will leave to take up the position of General Manager for Mackay’s new indigenous radio station Murri FM. He will leave 4ttt on the 7th of December to take up his new role in Mackay.

Ryan Rathbone has left his position as Music Director at Channel [V] to take up the newly created Group PD position for the Capital Radio network. The Network includes: 6IX Perth, 2CC Canberra, 2CA Canberra, Snow Fm Snowy Mountains, 2XL Snowy Mountains, Eagle Fm Goulburn, 2GN Goulburn.

There have been a series of recent departures at Channel [V], including General Manger Jacquie Riddel a few months ago, and this week Rob Logan has also left the music tv channel.

Brenton Cole departs 5CC Port Lincoln as Station Manager after 8½ years. He is leaving radio and going back into the building industry to work for IJF Australia (Interior Joinery and Furniture) in Adelaide as a Project Manager commencing 5th December. He will be replaced by Stephen Jones from 3CS Colac who starts with Eyre Peninsula Radio on Monday 5th December.

25-year radio veteran Ewan (Jay) Dixon returns to radio and joins 102.1 Edge FM Wangaratta as the music director and breakfast jock. He’ll commence on air on Monday December 12, 6am-10am.

Changes at the NSW Central Coast Star 104.5 for 2006...Dean Potter leaves to join Austereo’s 92.9 as Assistant Music Director and Announcer in his home town of Perth. Mornings presenter Lynne Heaysman (Lynne Hayes) leaves to have baby no.2. She will return as a casual announcer sometime in ’06. Sheridan Crofts has been appointed Assistant Music Director / Morning Announcer from the River (Macquarie network) in Albury where she is currently Music Director and Morning Jock.

WaveFM Wollongong’s 2006 line-up has kicked off early, Phebe Irwin and Dave Gorr on Breakfast, Susan Bolton has moved from afternoons to the 9-noon timeslot, MD Dave Clark moves from mornings to drive and Steve Fox from drive to afternoons. Greg Vincent returns to the airwaves stepping into the 7-10pm slot replacing Toby T; Rhonda Christini retains 10pm-1am. They have also made changes to the breakfast content which is being driven by PD Steve Parsons who now starts his day at 4:30am to assist in the producing of the show.

C91.3's journalist and acting News Director Alison Crew has left for a great position at Adelaide's fiveAA. But the show must go on and Rebecca McCready has now taken over as acting News Director and morning News Editor, whilst AFTRS graduate Tracey Callaghan has joined the news team, taking over as afternoon editor and news presenter.

The Edge 96.1's Phil & Jo Show will finish on December 2 to make way for a new format to be launched on January 1.

Phil Brandel will continue to pursue a career in radio and will work casually on WS over the holidays.
Jo Abi
plans to take some time out from radio to concentrate on the release of her first book (August 2006 through Lothian Books).
