Deano Kesby celebrates 40 years in radio

Deano Kesby can proudly lay claim to a milestone not many in our industry achieve.

This week, Deano – a familiar voice to Wave FM listeners in the Illawarra – notches up 40 years in radio.

Having worked casually at 2MC in Kempsey during his final year in school, in 1986, Deano started out as the full-time Afternoons announcer at 2LF in Young.

Since then, he’s worked in a variety of roles – both on-air and off – at a host of stations, including 2WG Wagga, FM104.7 & 2CA Canberra, SUN FM Shepparton and Darwin’s Hot100.

Deano also worked at Sydney’s 2DayFM, spent nearly a decade at B105 in Brisbane and was Content Director for Triple M Adelaide.

He’s now been at Wave FM for thirteen years.

On LinkedIn, Deano said:

“My ongoing gratitude to those who have given me incredible opportunities over the years. And to what must be hundreds of former workmates who’ve put up with me — thank you.

My 41st year of this caper begins this week.”
