I think it would be a bit hard to cut back jobs in regional radio as there are so few! I think most stations run pretty lean in Australia across the board. It would be pretty difficult to find any fat to trim.
I mean it's not like we can really automate any more.....or can we!!

Several weeks ago ‘radioinfo’ ran a blog asking what Dobbo should do to make Triple the station it once was. I'm sure he found it amusing although I’m sure he was definitely on the case.
I thought I would use this forum to say 'Well Done Dobbo'. The all new Triple M sounds great and I hope it is as successful as it sounds

Vale Ian Major. So sad to hear of Ian's passing. Not only was he a great commentator and consummate radio man, he was just the nicest guy.
Sincere condolences to Pam and family.
RIP, mate. 3KZ IS football!
Firsty, let me say about DAB+, isn't Video out, only allowed still/animated frames?
Secondly, "pause and replay of content" I don't think you can get around the copyright laws to do that?
Bob is correct, it needs to be different content, otherwise the average listener won't see the point. How long has the take up of digital TV been!
It will only be the technical boffins/audiophile types that would want to get a digital radio for the quality. (I include myself in that)
Different content is what's needed to drive receiver sales.
I love new technology which allows us to delivery content with added features and can enhance the experience for the listener, but I think with all the other technologies of iPods and internet streaming, DAB+ unfortunately is 10 years to late!
two words....AM STEREO!
Hey Bob,
Then why bother? Could've saved $$$$millions on conversion in difficult times!
(I thought CD's were digital.) Am I missing something here?

radio is a great promotional tool for the artists music, record companies better be very careful, what about radio stations insisting there be advertising booked promoting the artist before they get airplay(good idea) a radio station could become an independant label, and why not? we have the equipment to do it. then again independant label musicians may see the opportunity here to finally recognise radio airplay equals sales.......grant goldman
Greg,
Thanks for all the good memories.
