Celebrating 90 years of Aunty in central Queensland

Guy Menzies flies the first solo trans-Tasman flight from Sydney to New Zealand’s West Coast, construction of the Empire State Building is completed and one of regional Queensland’s first radio stations hits the airwaves.

The year is 1931 and the broadcaster is ABC Capricornia, known then as 4RK.

Today the Rockhampton station, which predates the ABC itself, celebrates nine decades of storytelling in central Queensland.
