With the upcoming GDR2 software update for current Windows Phone 8 devices, Microsoft may once again enable the FM radio functionality that was present on Windows Phone 7 but disappeared with Windows Phone 8. The technical capabilities for enabling the FM radio feature is present on the hardware and the software update will provide code to enable its use on existing devices without requiring owners to purchase new handsets.
