Kyle’s blood pressure out of control

Kyle Sandilands got what could be the wake-up call of his life on the KIIS 1065 breakfast show this morning when his blood pressure was taken live on radio.

The reading – which the station website reports as 184 over 123, is seriously high.

Normal for someone in their early 40’s is 120 over 80. Anything more than 140 over 90 poses a serious risk of stroke or heart attack.

Smoking, of course, is another major risk factor.

Stroke Foundation ambassador Chris Bath was spending the day advocating for National Stroke Foundation Day to raise awareness about the importance of healthy lifestyle and getting regular blood pressure check ups.

The cause is one close to Chris’s heart, after her dad suffered a severe stoke in 2009.

“80% of strokes are preventable, and I think, if you could stop it, why would you want to end up like my dad?” Bath told Kyle and Jackie.

According to Chris, Kyle’s high blood pressure, despite regular check ups and medication, puts him at considerable risk of a preventable stroke.

Strokes kill more women than breast cancer, but are significantly easier to avoid with a healthy lifestyle.
