20 years of Hottest 100 this weekend

Triple J has had a big few weeks counting down the Hottest 100 Top 20s from the past. Listeners have heard every Hottest 100 song ever on a pop-up digital station and triple j listeners have also had their chance to play their favourite songs.

Over 20 days of Hottest 100 celebration, more than 940,000 votes from music lovers came in for their favourite 20 songs from the last 20 years. Of those votes, over 200,000 were placed on the last day of voting, making it the biggest single-day of voting in Hottest 100 history.

Now it’s time to enjoy the 20 Years of triple j’s Hottest 100 countdown, as voted by listeners.

So what will be in the list?

30 songs were voted for from debut albums. Most of the individual years were pretty even for song count, but 1997 stood out as the year with the most popular songs. There are 49 songs from the 1990s (1993 – 1999) and 51 songs from the 2000s (2000 – 2012).

The age group which submitted the most amounts of votes was 22 – 25 year olds, with 25 year olds submitting the most votes of any age.

To find out which songs actually made it into the 20 years of triple j’s Hottest 100 poll, listen to the countdown this Saturday and Sunday. The station will reveal the hottest songs from the last 20 years, as voted by triple j listeners, in an Australia wide party this weekend.
