2SER moves into the final week of its 2020 Radiothon

Going into its final week of its Radiothon 2020 fundraiser, Sydney’s 2SER 107.3 is urging listeners and supporters of community media to chip in to keep the station on-air for another year.

Subscribe to Help Sydney Thrive” reflects the role 2SER plays as a platform for local creatives, grassroots organisations, local news and current affairs.

Deputy Sydney Lord Mayor Jess Scully, a former 2SER broadcaster says We love 2SER because it is about local creativity stories and communities. It’s really hard to cut through and to speak directly to people in a world that’s really mediated by internet giants. It’s very rare to have a channel like 2SER that is run by passionate people from the local community, who want to get stories out in a way that’s authentic and real and with really transparent intention.”

Station manager Martin Walters says “Our listeners represent every generation alive – we’re for everyone who shares our vision of Sydney and the world, who want real information, who want real music.

“Your subscription enables us to do all these things and it’s going to be even more important than ever as our city starts to reopen…not to mention that we absolutely need the financial support in this very tough year. It’s no cliché to say every dollar counts.

“We’re also proud, this Radiothon, to be releasing a commemorative 60-page magazine, filled with anecdotes from the station’s 40-year history. Every subscriber receives a copy.”

Walkley Award-winning journalist, Head of Journalism at UTS, and presenter of 2SER’s Fourth Estate, Monica Attard,  notes that “…it’s the ability of community radio to take more risks if you like, pushing the boundaries a little bit further and harder and making people think more broadly more deeply about some of the big social, economic, political issues of our time.”

2SER’s Radiothon ends 31 October.
