2ST returns to live and local footy

For the first time in decades, the Shoalhaven’s 2ST will broadcast the local VB Group 7 Rugby League Grand Final Live from Centenary Field in Albion Park on Sunday between Gerringong Lions and Warilla Lake South Gorillas, a replay of last year’s grand final.

The 2ST Call Team consists of 2ST Breakfast announcer Adam Straney, 2ST and South Coast Register Sports Director Robert Crawford and Chris Regan know for his long association with Group 7. Chris Regan’s father Bernie was well known as being the first sports director on 2ST.

Casting his eagle eye over the coaches boxes and interchange benches will be sideline eye Ric Bardon.

The team will broadcast Live to listeners of 2ST and to many others listening online and via an iPhone app the team have set up on the Radio 2ST facebook page.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for both Group 7 and 2ST,” says the caller Adam Straney. “We’ve got a wealth of local footy knowledge onboard and really looking forward to a great game.”

There’s quite a deal of hype over the game with the major semi being decided by a golden point extra time try. Last year’s grand final was also decided by a one point field goal in the dying seconds, so all on 2ST are exciting about the opportunity.

The broadcast will start at midday this Sunday on 999AM in Nowra, 91.7FM across the Bay and Basin and 106.7 throughout the southern Shoalhaven.
