They say that radio is “theatre of the mind.” But they (whoever ‘they’ are) also say “a picture tells a thousand words.” On this occasion, the pictures win.
Radio was an early adopter of mobile phones back in the time when they cost $5,000 plus (more like $20,000 in today’s money) and were about the size and weight of a house brick. But as a means of instant communication back to the station for a reporter in the field, it had no peer.
