612 ABC Brisbane Drive takes a technology detox

The 612 ABC Brisbane Drive program is taking a technology detox today as part of Reboot Your Life month across the ABC.

From 10am the Drive team have been preparing their program outside the ABC building, near the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, without the aid of computers.

They’ll be tapping away on typewriters, reading papers, listening to the wireless on a transistor radio and looking for news the old fashioned way.

The team won’t be checking emails, accepting text messages or using the internet for research. Their mobile phones will only be used to make and take calls.

Today’s Drive program will be put together the old fashioned way and presenter Emma Griffiths is looking forward to the challenge

“It will be a back to the future adventure,”  Emma said. “So far the lack of emails has been liberating.”

Acting Content Director Rob Mailer is looking forward to hearing the program the Drive team put together today.

“I’m curious to see if the team end up more, or less stressed without technology,” said Rob.

To find out … listen to 612 ABC Brisbane Drive with Emma Griffiths, this afternoon from 3-6pm.
