ABC Friends are urging the public to support the ABC by displaying a poster message anywhere and everywhere they can.

The group is asking people to download ‘SOS ABC’ posters to print and distribute.

“Spread the word and urge others to do the same,” says the national campaign group.

ABC Friends call for efficiency review to be made public

ABC Friends is calling on the Government to release urgently the Lewis efficiency review of the ABC.

“The efficiency review of the ABC must immediately be released,” said Glenys Stradijot, ABC Friends National spokesperson. 

“It’s unacceptable that the Government has not made public the review it has used to justify cuts of quarter of a billion dollars to the national broadcaster.”

“Prime Minister Abbott promised prior to the election that there would be “no cuts to the ABC”.

“When communications minister Malcolm Turnbull imposed the review on the ABC he assured the public that only back-of-house cuts would result.”

“The review must be made available for public scrutiny. The community is entitled to learn the true extent of any financial savings it identified and to examine the information on which its conclusions were based.”

“The Abbott Government’s lies and lack of transparency with regard to the ABC leads ABC Friends to conclude that its real agenda is the demise of the national public broadcaster,”
