Arabic Radio 2ME says welcome to new citizens at this year’s Easter Show

Arabic station 2ME is looking forward to its 5th live broadcast from Sydney’s Easter Show between March 17-30.

The station hopes to be the first to publicly welcome and congratulate some of the 194 migrants who will become Australian citizens in an inspiring ceremony at the show, on March 22.

On current trends, many of the new citizens will be Arabic speakers and most likely to be living in Sydney’s west and southwest.

We welcome new Arabic-speaking listeners all the time, no matter what their country of origin, 2ME’s founder Sid Merhi has told radioinfo.

“As a commercial station 2ME offers great music, news, traffic, weather and hugely popular shows that can be heard all over Australia.”

2ME has been entertaining and informing Sydney’s Arabic-speaking community for 20 years.  Along with this anniversary, the achievement that makes Merhi most proud, is coming number one with listeners in each and every survey for two decades (McNair Ingenuity Research).

“We are going to be using the show as part of our 20th anniversary celebrations with special guests and an emphasis on live listener interactions,” says Merhi.

2ME’s commitment to the Easter Show is 24/7 and the entire station relocates to the Showgrounds for the duration of the show.  This is possible because 2ME operates one of the most advanced Outside Broadcast facilities in Australia including:

  • Nine TVs for sponsors’ visual displays
  • Eight microphones
  • Two on-air consoles
  • 360 degree windows to catch all the action at the show

In its 5th year of partnering with RAS, 2ME remains the only non-English language broadcaster at the Easter Show
