ARN’s Five City Olympic Coverage

The Australian Radio Network has announced a three man team to provide extensive coverage of the Athens’ Olympics for its 10 capital city stations, stretching from Brisbane to Adelaide.

Headed by Group News Director, Glenn Daniel, the trio faces a tough schedule, filing news and program coverage for:

4KQ Brisbane
97.3FM Brisbane
WSFM Sydney
MIX 106.5 Sydney
MIX 106.3 Canberra
FM 104.7 Canberra

GOLD 104 Melbourne
MIX 101.1 Melbourne
5DN Adelaide
MIX 102.3 Adelaide

Daniel will be joined by WSFM Sports’ Director, Travis Winks, and GOLD-FM Sports’ Director, Geoff “The Coach” Field.

They leave Sydney on Thursday 5 August and arrive in Athens the next day, one week before the opening ceremony.

Reports will appear in scheduled news bulletins plus program crosses.

Glenn Daniel says: “Athens is seven hours behind east coast Australia, meaning the time difference is ideal for breakfast and drive radio in Australia.

“5am in eastern Australia is 10pm the night before in Athens, so the results of all finals will be in breakfast news.

“ARN has a proud tradition of covering the Olympics. 2WS began in 1978 and has had a representative at every Games since, from Moscow in 1980 through Los Angeles, Seoul, Barcelona, Atlanta and, of course, Sydney.”

The ARN team will stay at one of the media villages in the centre of Athens and will be based at the Main Press Centre.
