London radio station, Heart FM, has knocked Capital FM off the top spot in London in the battle of the breakfast shows.
Ex-pat Australian, Jonathon ‘Jono’ Coleman, has a weekly reach of 2.64 million listeners, just 1000 above Capital’s new man in the breakfast show hotseat, Johnny Vaughan.
The six monthly figures from GfK also reveal Heart has the highest number of listener hours for London stations, with eight million a week compared to Capital’s 7.5 million.
In the first four weeks since Vaughan took over the breakfast show (up to 16 May), Coleman leapfrogged the former Big Brother presenter with an average daily audience of 546 000, almost 35 000 more than Vaughan.
The latest GfK results also show Magic FM is third in London with 1.96 million weekly listeners, 400 000 ahead of Virgin Radio, both of which lost 1% in their weekly reach.
