How come SCA aren't being questioned in the media about Eddie McGuire's comments regarding Adam Goodes.
Didn't the comments go to air on Triple M Melbourne?
Ok, Ok, I'm no fan of Eddies - I think he's a bit of a big head full of his self importance ..BUT ...
How does what the 9 year old girl said, which was pretty low, and what Eddy said relate -- ?
When I heard the quote, I thought "yeah fair enough - Goodes is a big, ugly bugger with a face that only a mother could love" My immediate thought was not about racisim - it was about comparing Goodes - or anyone else of his stature for that matter, to the huge animated creature used in the musical ... I never thought of anything to with Goodes's racial background - I thought it was a (very poor, at best) attempt at Humour, linking a big ugly man with a big ugly animal --
I have nothing but admiration for the way Goodes has behaved throughout all of the drama of the past week or so, and while I can understand his sensitivity at the moment, i'd have purely accepted it as a friendly jibe about his stature, not his aboriginality.
I mean - how many footballers do you know that have been given some kind of linking with other things??
how about "THE BRICK" ( reference to his build and performance, or "BIG SAV" (a suggestion about the size of his manhood) - we could probably run a competition on who can come up with most nicknames.
I seriously don't think it had anything to do with racism until Eddy realised halfway through the comment that someone who is very PC would find a reason to complain.;
Its a tough world out there in the Australian Football world -- time to toughen up a bit boys --
