Counting Koalas with 891 ABC Adelaide

ABC Local Radio enlists listeners to track S.A.’s furry marsupials

The Great Koala Count aims to learn more about the South Australian koala population by involving the general public, school children, community groups, and animal lovers as citizen scientists.
Participants will explore their local neighbourhoods, parks and koala hot-spots to observe and record koalas.

Listeners will be encouraged take part in The Great Koala Count by helping collect accurate data about our furry friends and the chance to get your own ‘paws and claws’ and some great prizes.

Smart-phone users will be able to download the free The Great Koala Count App. Links to the app downloads are at: abc.net.au/adelaide/operation

Those without a smart-phone can upload digital images of koala sightings via abc.net.au/adelaide/operation.

On The Great Koala Count day, Wednesday 28 November, there will be a live radio broadcast from Cleland Wildlife Park from 9am, with 891 ABC Adelaide’s Morning Show with Ian Henschke.
Cleland are offering a special gold coin entry on the day for anyone who mentions the Great Koala Count.
