CSAs to get behind carers week

In March last year, Alex McKinnon’s life changed in a split second.

While playing for the Newcastle Knights NRL team, a dangerous tackle left him confined to a wheelchair with serious injuries – at one stage being told he may never walk again. Not only did Alex’s life change that day, but so did the lives of those around him, including his fiancée, Teigan Power, who instantly, and unknowingly, became an unpaid carer.

Alex McKinnon and Teigan Power are now Ambassadors for National Carers Week. They have recorded 3 x 30-second radio CSA’s to promote Carers Week and the role of unpaid carers.

The reality is that anyone at anytime can be a carer. In Australia today, there are 2.7 million unpaid carers – that’s 1 in 8 of us – and these carers save the economy over $60 billion every year.

To show you care and to support our nation’s carers, stations are being encouraged to run the CSAs in any Community Service or spare airtime from the 6th to 17th October 2015 (inclusive).

Please contact Peter Rubenstein or Dave Carter at MediaHeads to get copies of the CSAs.
