Darwin radio ratings released

Radio ratings for Darwin have been released. 
 
Local stations HOT 100 FM and Mix 104.9, part of the 100% family owned Grant Broadcasters radio network, are part of the first survey to be released in more than 10 years.

HOT FM also has translator services covering the regional townships of Katherine, whilst Mix 104.9 FM has additional translator services in Katherine, Adelaide River and Pine Creek.

HOT FM is the “innovative and younger focused” station, while Mix 1049 is the “top ends feel good” station.

HOT was the station most listened to, at 37.3%.

Mix 104.9 was in second place on 18.2%, followed by 105.7 ABC Darwin in third place on 17.6%.

Triple j scored 9.4% in fourth place and Radio National was fifth on 2.0%.


Hot won breakfast, with ABC Darwin second and Mix third.

Hot won the daytime shifts and weekends while ABC Darwin won evenings.


Hot had the largest weeky listenership, with a cume of 62,800 people. Mix had the second highest weekly reach, followed by ABC Darwin.



Grant Cameron, CEO of Grant Broadcasters Media Group said: “The introduction of the new survey system for regional areas has enabled us to undertake this research. We have now completed surveys in 5 markets and they have provided valuable information on the importance of regional radio listening.” 

The survey was conducted by Xtra Research, between 3rd May – 21st May 2016, as part of the new system for regional radio ratings.
