Departures at 4BC

Newsreader Steve Barker and Drive presenter Peter Gleeson are both leaving Brisbane’s 4BC.

Peter called Bill McDonald this morning to announce he will be the new CEO of the Q Greyhound Complex, telling McDonald that the opportunity was too good not to take up. You can listen to the audio above.

Steve Barker also announced his resignation on Monday.

Steve has worked for stations including 2GB, 2UE and Triple M, won awards for his Sydney to Hobart yacht race coverage (pictured here on the right with John Winning Jr, the appropriately named victorious skipper of 2022), received a letter from King Charles for his heartfelt coverage of the passing of Queen Elizabeth and was the only journalist (TV, radio, or press), who was on the inside of the mine when Brant Webb and  Todd Russell exited Beaconsfield after two weeks underground.

Both moves comes amidst rumours that the Nine Radio station is about to embark on more of a shake up.

Peter Gleeson’s last show is this Friday September 13. Gary Hardgrave will fill in from next week, with a decision regarding the Drive line up for the remainder of the year to follow soon.
