Fairfax Radio Network releases latest iPhone apps

Fairfax Radio Network has  launched its latest suite of iPhone apps for Sydney’s 2UE, Melbourne’s 3AW and Magic 1278, Brisbane’s 4BC and Magic 882 and Perth’s 6PR. The app update was pushed out overnight to tablets and smart phones.

The apps feature live audio and in-studio video streaming from multiple camera angles, live streaming control, including live pause, hourly on-demand local news audio, rich media news stories featuring audio, video and high res image content, live studio interaction via email, phone, Twitter and Facebook, alarm clock, weather updates and station program guide.

Fairfax Radio Technology Director, Joe Sexton said: “This latest release marks a new era in radio mobile apps and content distribution, giving Apple users seamless access to Fairfax Radio Network studios and opportunities for interaction with live broadcasts around the country like never before.

“We built the latest version of our apps to bring an integrated, interactive and comprehensive listening and viewing experience to our listeners. They are at the heart of everything we do, so it’s imperative that they have the best radio experience at their finger tips, and that’s what our latest apps deliver.”

The apps also offer Fairfax Radio Network clients the latest mobile ad formats, including top of page and media player banners, and screen takeovers.

“Our latest apps offer advertisers the opportunity to reach our engaged and influential audience on their smartphone via new sponsorship opportunities that integrate seamlessly with the user’s experience,” Fairfax Radio Network National Sales Director Nick Randall said.

“Our app downloads already exceed 330,000 and we see that with enhanced usability, including live studio video streaming and studio interaction, more listeners than ever will be downloading the apps and using them to engage with their favourite station. This represents the ideal audience for advertisers – they’re present, participating and passionate.”

The apps were developed by Fairfax Radio Network and Conduct HQ, Melbourne.

The Fairfax Radio Network apps are now available for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad from the App Store. Fairfax Radio Network apps are also available for Android.
