Glenn Daniel’s $20,000 donation to cardiac research

smooth 95.3 Breakfast co-host and journalist Glenn Daniel has presented a cheque for $20,000 to the Cardiac Research Unit at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.

The team is at the leading edge of the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) program, allowing heart valve replacement without invasive open-heart surgery.

Glenn, who underwent open-heart surgery in 2011 and took 6 months to recover says “…it’s wonderful to see TAVI patients enjoy a whole new quality of life in just 10 days”.

The donation is 100% of profits to date from his autobiography “News Time – A Life in Radio” which was launched in March this year.

Glenn says “It was a dream to write my journey as a radio journalist over the last 35 years but the greatest pleasure has been supporting the amazing Cardio team at RPA”.

Glenn’s donation will go towards research to eliminate leaks following the TAVI procedure.

Cardiologist Associate Professor Martin Ng says, “We are really grateful for community support from someone like Glenn because these contributions make all the difference in making research possible”.
