Hamish and Andy to headline Commercial Radio Conference

Hit Radio Network’s national drive team Hamish Blake and Andy Lee will headline this year’s National Radio Conference in Melbourne.

Appearing for the first time at the annual industry conference, the session moderated by executive producer Sam Cavanagh, will see Hamish and Andy answer questions about their career in radio, talk about their unique approach to content creation, discuss working in a creative team and reveal what it takes to stay at the top of their game.

After beginning their radio careers in 2003, Hamish and Andy rose to success with listeners, reaching around 2.5 million listeners each week and held that audience for four years, before they retired from the drive slot in 2011 to pursue other media ambitions.

In June 2015, Hamish and Andy made their highly anticipated return to the Hit Network, once again hosting the top rating weekday national drive show.

CRA’s Joan Warner says Hamish and Andy are “wonderful ambassadors for the radio industry we’re excited that they have agreed to share their expertise at this year’s conference.”

After meeting whilst studying at University the two talented entertainers/ writers/ comedians began a show on community radio and have now become Australia’s most popular media performers.

Together with mainstream radio and TV, they’ve also held comedic reign with their podcasts, having topped the iTunes charts as the #1 Australian radio podcast. In 2008 Hamish and Andy released their “Unessential Listening” CD that went platinum, selling well over 100,000 copies. In 2010 they released a second CD to great acclaim, “Celebrating Over 50 Glorious Years”.

Throughout their careers, Hamish and Andy have made guest appearances on shows such as The Project, Spicks and Specks, Have You Been Paying Attention, Rove, Thank God You’re Here, and Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation.

The National Radio Conference will be held at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre on Friday, 7 October with more than 600 people attending from across Australia. Further conference speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
