Tomorrow marks the 30th birthday of FM Radio in Ipswich.
At 1.06pm on February 25 1990 106.9 QFM was born broadcasting for the first time from both speakers. QFM became Star FM, and then in the early 2000’s a frequency and final name change to River 94.9 FM.
General Manager, Shane O’Brien says:
“Today, River 94.9 is undoubtedly THE most local, relevant and engaging radio station in SEQ, and has a well-earned reputation for being a champion of, and for, the community. The outstanding dedication of all our staff – on and off the air – has continued to make this happen”.
To celebrate the station will air the Top 90 of 1990 from 9 am. Marnie and Campo for Breakfast will catch up with some of the talent from the QFM and Star days as well.
