Hit106.9 Newcastle’s breakfast show Nick and Sophie with Simon Baggs are showing their support for marriage equality with plans to stage Newcastle’s biggest Drag Show

The breakfast duo say they want to celebrate the LGBTIQ community and to keep marriage equality top of mind while the Same Sex Marriage surveys are being posted out.

​The show has already garnered the support of  Opposition leader Bill Shorten, who called into the show this morning to congratulate them on a sellout and expressed his support for the campaign saying; “It’s not fair that some Australians don’t have the same right as others”

106.9 has been campaigning on-air for the past 4 weeks, and says the community has got behind the cause. 

Hosted by Nick Gill (AKA Nicky Menage a Trois), the night will feature Booty and the Beat: Director’s Cut with Dianne Slowly, Gloria Sass, Amanda Pokar and Marzipan Mayflower; the hilarious retelling of everybody’s favourite Disney classics featuring four acts from Newcastle’s Drag Scene. Sophie and Simon will also be performing a drag number each, and other acts include locals including team from mPole, East Coast All Star Cheerleaders, Catherine Britt, and Wayne Rogers.

Newcastle’s Biggest Drag Show is on Thursday 21st September, 7pm at Lizotte’s Newcastle.
