i98FM raise $1,725,057 with camp quality convoy

This morning, 11 year old Camp Quality child, Hayden Veitch joined i98 Breakfast Show hosts Marty Haynes and Fairlie Hamilton to announce the final tally for i98FM’s ‘Camp Quality Convoy’. The Convoy was held last Sunday November 15,  and raised $1,725,057.44…beating last year’s record of $1,578,190.

The event which is now in its 11th year, saw 764 trucks and 960 motorbikes travel 70 kilometres from Illawarra Coal’s West Cliff Colliery at Appin, through the streets of the Illawarra, to finish up at the Croome Road Sporting Complex in Albion Park Rail.

Last week, the opportunity to take the coveted lead truck position in the Convoy was fought out live on air with Marty and Fairlie. Winning top spot with a bid of $220,000 was Rob Starcic from Coastal Windows and Doors.

In addition, The People’s Truck also contributed $210,000, along with Illawarra Truck Repairs and Spares’ $123,000 and MJ Rowles’ $117,000. Leading the motorbikes was Caltex and the Mount Kembla Pub with a winning bid of $92,300.

From the lead truck and bike donations alone, a total of $1,307,351 had been raised before an engine had even started. The figure announced this morning now means that $7,716,360 has been raised for Camp Quality since the inaugural event in 2005.

A crowd of over 7,000 people attended the Croome Rd Sporting Complex in Albion Park Rail to see Justice Crew, Nathaniel & Luke Koteras perform. Spectators also enjoyed some of Australia’s best motocross riders performing stunts on a purpose built track.

All funds raised go directly to Camp Quality Illawarra who brightens the lives of kids with cancer by bringing hope and happiness to them and their families through dedicated support programs.
