Ian Wright is heading to Happy FM

5MU’s Ian Wright is making a sea change move after 49 years in radio and taking on the Station Managers role at Happy FM, Victor Harbor, SA.

Ian says, “At the ripe young age of 66 and in my 49th year in radio, the time and opportunity to make a move is spot on. The ‘Station Manager’ role for me at Happy FM is multifaceted, both ‘on’ and ‘off air’.

“The Victor Harbor based station has a great bunch of volunteers (some older, some younger) making it all happen. My job is to ensure the harmony remains, the bills are paid, the sponsors remain loyal and the programming output is enhanced.

Ian begins his new role on Monday September 7, which also sees him return to the full time airwaves, at this stage looking after 6-9 am Monday and Friday ‘Breakfast’.

He says, “I wish my 5MU/POWER FM colleagues all the best for the future and ‘thanks’ for putting up with me for the last 9 1/2 years. I also acknowledge the mighty innings put in over many years by former ‘Happy FM’ Station Manager, Ken Burgess, now retired”
