Merrick & The Highway Patrol

It was supposed to be about celebrating the release of the new movie Fast & Furious 6 in Australian cinemas on June 6. But it was probably more to do with the deepest desires of petrol head, Merrick who was salivating all week about driving three of the most exotic cars on the planet.

On hand at the Sydney Motorsport Park for the on air team, as well as three listeners, and their mates was a Ferrari 458 Spider ($690,000), a Lamborghini LP570-4 Superleggerra ($600,000) and a Lamborghini Aventador ($850,000) to be driven at unrestricted speeds.

The supercars, totalling over $2.1 million, were also lent to Merrick, Rach and Jules for the drive back into their World Square radio headquarters… 

According to Merrick: Today reminded me of the excitement of when a kid rides their first bike. It was just unreal.

 And from Rachel: I couldn’t tell if my heart was racing because of the speed or because I knew the insurance excess was 5 times the price of my actual car!  I have never been so excited and petrified at the same time.  Amazing!

Julian also said: Apart from the obvious differences in speed, price, aero-dynamics, engine performance, kilowatts, cylinders, fuel injection, interior and general sex appeal it was pretty similar to driving my old 2002 Subaru Forester.
