Lawrie Lawrence has thanked the commercial radio industry for its support in his Kids Alive campaign to stop kids from drowning in backyard pools.
In a message to stations he said “Since the involvement of many partner radio stations drowning stats have dropped from 63 when we started the campaign to just 20 last year. This statistic though improve is still unacceptable. We are chasing zero.“
The Kids Alive campaign educates Australians on the five steps of swim safety; fence the pool, shut the gate, learn to swim, supervise and learn to resuscitate.
Since 2002, most metropolitan and regional radio stations and networks have supported the program. Read radioinfo’s article about the campaigns inititiation in 2002 here.
