LBC presenter wins best Breakfast Show award at UK Radio Awards

Jono Coleman was a surprise guest presenter at the UK radio awards. Holidaying in London during the Australian ratings break, Coleman was asked to present an award in the West End once it was known he was in town.

He says it “came out of the blue yesterday when I got a call from the award producers inviting me after I had been a guest on BBC Radio 2. I’m honoured to be asked… and I thought I was Yesterdays DJ!”

Reporting on the awards for radioinfo from London, Coleman says:

“I handed out the lifetime achievement award to the man who brought ITN news to commercial radio and did the first ever deal with Sky News.  I also helped Emma Bunton (baby spice) miss out on winning best new radio talent on Heart fm. Tom Parker Bowles (Camilla’s grandson) and food broadcaster handed out an award to Nick Ferrari from LBC, who won best brekkie show (Mike Carlton and my old station). I was on table with new minister of broadcasting and head of regulation from Ofcom and singer Katie Melua.”

Sounds like listeners will hear all about it when Jono returns to air on Monday 28th June.
