Leo Sayer joins the Smooth FM lineup

Grammy award winner Leo Sayer has been added to the all-star smoothfm weekend lineup, fronting his own show from this Saturday, 28 February at 4pm.

Responsible for some of the biggest hits of the 70s and 80s including You Make Me Feel Like Dancing and When I Need You, Sayer will handpick some of his favourite tracks along with a story or two for smoothfm listeners; the perfect addition to a relaxing Saturday afternoon.

“I like this idea that we can speak personally to people – that’s what radio is all about. You sit on stage with big audiences, and it can be a fantastic experience. But it’s always nice to go one-on-one.

“For my show I’ve picked out some of my faves – songs like Toto – they used to be my backing band plus Stevie Wonder and Bruce Springsteen,” said Sayer.

NOVA Entertainment’s Group Program Director Paul Jackson said: “Leo Sayer joins a long list of some of the most iconic and high profile artists to join the station, from Rod Stewart and Olivia Newton-John to Keith Urban and Ed Sheeran, and it will be wonderful to hear another legend of the music industry on smoothfm on Saturdays.”

Sayer, who has sold over 80 million albums worldwide is currently travelling the country and entertaining crowds on his Restless Years Tour (tour details here). He moved to Australia some years ago and recently took up Australian citizenship.

Leo Sayer will be heard from 4.00pm Saturday February 28 on smooth 95.3 (Sydney), smooth 91.5 (Melbourne) and nationally on DAB+.
