Mark Hine has shocked listeners to Sydney’s The Edge 96.1, with an air announcement that he is resigning from his long running breakfast post.

Hine has thanked listeners for supporting him for close to seven years. He has revealed his last day at The Edge will be Friday 23 April.

“I find this very hard to talk about. Basically, I need a break and want to spend more time with my wife. I’ll think long and hard about what I want to do in the months ahead.”

In the announcement, Hine has confirmed that breakfast co-host, Jo Abi, will definitely be coming back. Abi is due to go on maternity leave in a few weeks, but plans returning in about three months.

Lee Bevington will step in to cover breakfast in the meantime.
