Max FM trumps Carbeque at Taree Mens Shed

As we reported last week, the Taree Mens Shed was visited by Merrick and the Highway Patrol from Triple M Sydney. They brought the Carbeque and an OB team to put on a Barbie and a broadcast, but were not welcomed by the locals. This week, local station Max FM got one up on their big city cousins, successfully throwing a barbie for the Men in their Shed.

The story began with Norman Webster, a Taree local, striking up a friendship with Merrick and inviting the Highway Patrol to visit the Men’s Shed.

Unfortunately some of the other locals did not welcome Merrick with the same open arms as Norm and shut down the shed before the Carbeque could go ahead.

So local station Max FM’s Taree breaky show decided yesterday to take the Max FM BBQ to the shed and give those hard working guys a good Aussie Breakfast and the Barbeque they missed out on. The sausage sandwiches just kept rolling out.

MAX FM’s breakfast announcer Craig Huth has told radioinfo:

“We thank Merrick and the Triple M crew for visiting the area with the CARBEQUE and invite them anytime to promote a good cause in the Manning Valley. We might even take them on in the 107.3 MAXFM BBQ for a good old sausage sizzle cook off. The Challenge is there…..”
