Mix PDs on the way to Clear Channel’s US Conference

ARN to send two PD’s to Clear Channel Program Directors conference in Atlanta An in-house competition at ARN has been drawn, with the result that Mix 106.5 PD Ben Latimer and Mix 101.1’s new PD Mark Johnson (formerly PD of ARN’s Gold 104) are heading to Clear Channel’s annual PD conference in Atlanta next month.

Group PD Jeremy Millar has told radioinfo that one winner was planned, but the results for first and second places were a point apart, so the company opted to send both PD’s: “Ben won the award, but I think if we’d shaken the score sheets it could have gone to Johnno, so this was a great outcome for both.”

The convention is a major event on Clear Channel’s calendar with around 400 PDs in attendance, and this year the conference will be partnered by a Production Engineers meeting which will run in parallel.

“Because it’s an in-house event, the information sharing is first-class – I’d rate last year’s conference as the best radio function of it’s kind that I have attended. Not only is the program outstanding, but it’s wall-to-wall with senior programmers like Tom Poleman, Tom Owens, Jim Ryan and Dennis Clark, so there’s always plenty of opportunities to speak with these people and learn about their stations and markets.”
