mix94.5’s Matt Dyktynski drops ode to Perth’s new Optus Stadium.
With Optus Stadium hosting its first big event in the form of an Open Day this Sunday 21st January, Matt, from The Big Breakfast with Clairsy, Matt & Kymba, devised a tune on air this morning to help celebrate.
Referring to the stadium as a “shining beacon”, Matt likened its ‘Perthness’ to that of the Bell Tower, but didn’t hold back when it came to making fun of well-known issues.
“One day soon we’ll learn how to get here, to Perth’s new stadium with its warm mid-strength beer,” he sang.
“You can’t take an Uber and they won’t let you drive, and if you take public transport, you might not make it alive.
“Who’d of thought a footbridge would be too much to ask, that we had to ask help from Kuala Lumpur!”
And for West Australians struggling to emotionally move on from Subiaco Oval, Matt has a lyric to help you out.
“And the old Subi Oval, you can stick up your … arghhhh!”
