Eleven years of top rating breakfast radio on 2Day didn’t stand Wendy Harmer in good stead for presenting the morning show solo to Melbourne and Sydney on the new FM station Vega.

In today’s Sydney Morning Herald she tells Sue Javes “In all those years on 2Day I never had to give a station call sign, forward or back-announce a music track or tell the time. Paul Holmes did all that.”

She also relates the challenge of telling an amusing story and having no-one there to fall about laughing.

Rumours about her being unhappy have her puzzled. She admits to a period of adjustment in the early weeks but says reports of emergency workshops, dissatisfaction among staff and plans to relaunch the station are “simply garbage.”

The first official ratings for Vega will be released on the 6th December.
