NEMBC Footy Show reaches 100th episode this week

The NEMBC’s Multicultural AFL Footy TV show will broadcast its 100th show this Thursday.

What began as an experimental TV pilot program in 2018 has stood the test of time to reach its the milestone in the program’s 5th season and is now a major Diversity media outlet for the AFL.

NEMBC MEDIA Sports Producer and Director, Fiv Antoniou says, “The award-winning Multicultural AFL Footy Show went to air with a Diverse cast completely new to television. Our team, driven by passion and enthusiasm for Aussie Rules footy, created the TV program’s Multicultural popularity.”

The presenters on the TV panel, all have unique diversity backgrounds, Vanessa Gatica, the Anchor, originally migrated from Mexico, Harbir Singh Kang came with his family from India, George Grosios has a Greek Heritage and Fouad Andrawos hails from Egypt.

They have their own stories to share, how they became involved in CALD radio broadcasting, Aussie Rules football and eventually Television.

The team of panellists have been with the Program almost from the start, while the Australian born producer/director of the project also comes from a Diversity background, with a broad knowledge of AFL Footy.

Antoniou says, “Along the way to our 100th TV episode, the program achieved National television media accolades and recognition – Highlights which included: Winning the 2021 Antenna Award for the best Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Program on Australian Community Television, and Harbir Singh Kang, the TV Show’s presenter also won the 2019 Antenna Award for the CALD Personality of the Year, while on the Footy Show.”

The NEMBC’s Multicultural AFL Footy Show has been partnered since its inauguration by C31 Community Television, the AFL and the Community Broadcasting Foundation and airs on prime-time television, C31 TV in Melbourne and Geelong on Thursdays at 7:00 pm, C44 in Adelaide on Friday evenings and Aurora-Foxtel TV at 1:00 pm on Saturdays.
